- Black Pearl rendezvous'd with m/v Happy Sky to pick up fuel for their long motor to the nearest island of El Hierro
- Coming alongside m/v Happy Sky who met with Black Pearl and offered assistance with fuel to help them on their way
- Having broken their mast, Black Pearl had to motor 800 miles to El Hierro where repairs could be made for the next leg back to Lanzarote
- Four days after starting the race, Black Pearl broke their mast and abandoned racing
